Jack Roles helped Cambridge United beat Mansfield Town 4-0 on Tuesday night in League Two – and some of their fans hailed the Tottenham loanee for his performance.

The central midfielder is currently on a short-term loan at Cambridge until January from Premier League outfit Spurs.

Roles came off the bench against Mansfield and he opened the scoring for his team in the 74th minute, as he scored inside the penalty area after a corner.

The 20-year-old has been sent out on loan by Spurs for the first time and is experiencing his first taste of senior football.

He’s now played six games across all competitions for Cambridge and Tuesday was the first time he got on the scoresheet.

Roles is a creative midfielder that has scored goals at youth level for the North London club and now his first goal at senior level should give him a real confidence boost.

A selection of Cambridge supporters on social media were impressed with the midfielder’s latest contribution, as he helped the game swing in their favour and it opened the floodgates in front of goal.

His task is now to try force his way into the starting XI of the League Two club and continue his impressive development.
