Former Liverpool youngster Rafael Camacho has shared how Jurgen Klopp reacted when he told him about Sporting CP’s interest in him.
The youngster is no longer at Anfield having recently completed £5 million move (Mirror) to the Portuguese outfit, who are his boyhood club.

Camacho decided to move on after growing frustrated with his lack of first-team opportunities – in 2018/19, he was handed just two appearances; a 90-minute game at right-back against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Cup and a one-minute cameo against Crystal Palace in the Premier League.
Speaking ahead of Liverpool and Sporting CP’s pre-season meeting, Camacho explained how it went when he first told Klopp about Sporting’s interest.

He told O Jogo: “I spoke to him in December, told him I had a chance to come back [to Sporting].
“He said he knew but at that moment he didn’t want to let me go, because I was part of Liverpool’s plans.
“Before the summer I spoke to him again [and] told him that I wanted to go back to grow as a professional and he told me it was a great idea, that this would be the best club I could go to and that if I worked I would have my chance.”
TBR’s view
Camacho’s tale of events certainly suggest there has never been any animosity between the pair.

That had been alleged before Camacho departed, with the player having taken to his Instagram to deny a rift and state that Klopp was his ‘father in football’.
Camacho’s desire to play regular football has to be commended – attacking players have it tough at Anfield trying to get into the team ahead of the likes of Mo Salah and Sadio Mane.
