Calvin Ramsay scores for Liverpool U21s vs Accrington Stanley
Liverpool U21s suffered a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Accrington Stanley last night, but summer signing Calvin Ramsay impressed by scoring a late goal.
Jurgen Klopp’s side signed the talented full-back from Scottish side Aberdeen in the summer. He cost the Reds £4 million (Sky Sports), and he is very highly rated behind the scenes at Anfield.

The teenager is now fit and made his first appearance in a Liverpool shirt for the U21s yesterday. He came on as a substitute and scored a very late goal – in the 91st minute.
Ramsay’s goal, however, wasn’t the end. His teammate Ben Doak also found the net two minutes later, but Accrington Stanley had done the damage already by that point.
Liverpool ended up losing the game 3-2, but Ramsay’s performance will certainly be viewed as a huge positive by everyone within the club, including Klopp, who is a big fan of the teenager.
The Reds play West Ham tonight and Ramsay is unlikely to be called upon after playing just yesterday. However, when Liverpool face Nottingham Forest this weekend, the 19-year-old could well make the squad.
Klopp loves Ramsay
There were a few eyebrows raised when Liverpool decided to sign Ramsay from Aberdeen in the summer.
However, Klopp had no doubts and the German revealed a few weeks ago that the teenager was scouted extensively. He hailed Ramsay and even went on to claim that he’s really excited about the young full-back.
Klopp said, as per BBC Sport: “He is an outstanding talent. We scouted him over a lot of games and he did exceptionally well.
“For a young age – the way he plays – he is a real player. He is really involved in everything. He’s a real talent and I am really excited about him.”
