Calum Chambers sends one-word praise to Kieran Tierney after Arsenal win

Kieran Tierney was instrumental once more for Arsenal as they came from the depths of despair to progress in the Europa League. Afterwards, he received a one-word message from teammate Calum Chambers on Instagram.

The Gunners were heading out of the competition with 25 minutes remaining. Goals by Diogo Goncalves and Rafa Silva had cancelled out Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s opener and meant Arsenal needed to score twice.

Arsenal clicked into life though and after Tierney had equalised on the night, the Gunners went through the gears and eventually got their just rewards through Aubameyang.

Arsenal will view the competition as one which they want to win and if they show the battling qualities of last night, it could take a sound team to stop them from achieving their goals.

Tierney has been in fine form for Arsenal since arriving from Celtic and that remained the case here. After the contest, Chambers took to Instagram to offer his teammate the ultimate praise.

Chambers stepped up his recovery from injury last night by stepping off the bench and he’ll hope to get back into Mikel Arteta’s plans.

Class act

In Tierney, though Arsenal have landed themselves an absolute gem of a player. He cost £25 million from Celtic and even on £80,000-a-week he is proving to be worth every single penny.

Chambers is versatile enough to play across the back four but one player he won’t be ousting from the team any time soon is Tierney.

The 23-year-old is well on his way to legendary status at the Gunners and Arteta will need a Champions League return pretty soon to keep players of his ilk satisfied.

Last night saw him play his 50th game in all competitions and although Chambers calling him a ‘legend’ is somewhat premature, you wouldn’t back against it becoming a reality at some point.
