Calum Chambers and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were Arsenal’s goalscoring heroes in the 3-2 comeback win over Aston Villa yesterday.
Chambers netted the equaliser while Aubameyang clinched the win with a free kick, and the defender was full of praise for the Gabonese hitman.
As per Sky Sports, Chambers was asked whether the Arsenal squad accepted they can’t keep relying on Aubameyang and said: “Of course. We know as a team and as a defensive unit that we have to be solid, we have to shut the door and be stronger.
“But when you have players like that obviously it does help as well. Aubameyang’s very key. He’s a quality striker and a lot of the players on this team are quality, so to have him at the top of the team, scoring the goals is brilliant for us.”
TBR’s View – Arsenal have to ease the burden on Aubameyang soon
Aubameyang is consistently scoring goals across all competitions with little rest, amid the backdrop of a leaky defence and in a side which isn’t making a huge amount of chances.
He is dragging the side through at the moment and having a player like him in the side means that his team-mates know they can get out of situations like they found themselves in yesterday against Villa.
But, as Chambers says, the squad must ease the burden on Aubameyang, otherwise he will burn out and become frustrated at being so far above the level of his team-mates.
