‘I was going to kill him’: Callum Wilson makes joke about Almiron after Tottenham v Newcastle

Newcastle duo Miguel Almiron and Callum Wilson both got themselves on the scoresheet v Tottenham today in a fine away win.

Eddie Howe’s men were the better side throughout and in the end, thoroughly deserved a huge three points against Antonio Conte’s out of sorts Spurs outfit.

Wilson, who is hoping to press on with the England squad in the winter over in Qatar, lobbed Hugo Lloris after the Spurs stopper’s mistake. Indeed, Wilson might have had two as well, had Almiron himself not managed to squeeze his shot under Lloris’ body.

And speaking about Almiron’s goal, Wilson admitted he had eyes on a tap in and jokingly said he’d have had a few words with his teammate had he not scored.

“We’re so happy for him. He works so hard, his overall performance, he probably just needed to add goals and assists to his game. This season he’s done that. Long may it continue for him, he’s on fire at the moment. If he didn’t score, I was going to kill him, to be honest (laughs). I was square for a tap in but no, it’s a great finish,” Wilson said.

In the end, it didn’t matter, and both Wilson and Almiron proved their massive worth to this Newcastle side.

TBR’s View: Wilson And Almiron Huge For Newcastle

Callum Wilson has always been a quality Premier League striker, there is no doubting his credentials. Almiron, on the other hand, looks like a new player.

The goal threat coming from Almiron is something we’ve not seen before and his confidence is clearly sky high, something which Eddie Howe needs praising massively for.

If these two keep up this sort of form, then there is a huge chance that Newcastle do indeed make Europe. And that, would make it a massive season for the Toon.
