Callum Wilson can’t believe what he heard the West Ham United fans chanting in the Newcastle United game before the international break.

Wilson has been speaking on the Footballer’s Football Podcast alongside Michail Antonio and reflected on the 2-2 draw at the London Stadium a couple of weeks ago.

It was an entertaining clash at West Ham as David Moyes’ men fought to rescue a point after falling 2-1 down following an Alexander Isak double.

Mohamed Kudus’ late equaliser earned a draw for West Ham after they had taken an early lead through Tomas Soucek.

Wilson was among the substitutes on the day as Eddie Howe named Isak as his starting striker for Newcastle United.

And the Englishman has poked fun at West Ham fans over one of their chants.

Wilson can’t believe what he heard West Ham fans singing during Newcastle game

Speaking on the Footballer’s Football Podcast, Wilson admitted he couldn’t believe what he was hearing from the West Ham fans during the game.

“We played down at your place and I had to start laughing,” the Magpies striker said. “I’m sitting on the bench, taking in the atmosphere, and it’s ‘European champions, you’ll never sing that’.

“And I’m like, ‘oh God, you sound like Michail’. Bragging about that one trophy. It’s like you have no songs. What’s going on?

“That was last season, this is a new season! If I won the Europa League I would be buzzing, yes. And my fans could sing it, yes.

“But then going on and you’re losing and still singing European champions and trying to get our fans annoyed, we’re winning the game.”

Of course, West Ham lifted the Europa Conference League title last season and have since made sure that opposition fans do not forget about their achievement.

It was a brilliant run in Europe for the Hammers last time out and you can hardly blame them for singing about lifting their first-ever European trophy.
