Wilson and Lascelles react to ‘top-class’ Newcastle man after Brentford win

Newcastle United are on the rampage in the Premier League right now, after another fantastic win.

Eddie Howe’s side put a second West London club to the sword in a row, with a 5-1 drubbing of Brentford.

Bruno Guimaraes and Jacob Murphy put the Magpies 2-0 ahead at half-time.

Ivan Toney pulled a goal back from the penalty spot after the break, but then Newcastle took control of the game.

The Brazilian added his second of the game, before Miguel Almiron and an Ethan Pinnock own-goal decided the contest.

Guimaraes took to Instagram after the match to celebrate the victory, and Jamaal Lascelles and Callum Wilson reacted to his post.

Posting on social media, Guimaraes said: “Brilliant day in the office! Well done mates!

“Thanks for the amazing support as always Newcastle fans. Proud of what we are building. Keep going fellas.”

Lascelles and Wilson reacted to Guimaraes’ pictures after the match.

The Newcastle club captain loved his midfielder’s performance, adding a flame emoji.

Wilson followed his up with an emoji with stars in his eyes, which described Guimaraes very well.

Described as a ‘top-class’ player by Jamie Redknapp, Guimaraes scored his first goals of the campaign yesterday.

His first was a powerful back-post header from a well-worked corner routine.

He then won the ball back near the halfway line in the second half, before driving forward and smashing the ball past David Raya for his second.

Newcastle legend Alan Shearer described Guimaraes as ‘different class’ after yesterday’s performance.

Guimaraes is one of Newcastle’s most important players, and is currently leading his side into European contention.

He’s clearly popular with his teammates, and after that performance, it’s easy to see why.
