Caleb Ekuban has sent a heartfelt message to Gjanni Alioski on Instagram after the Leeds United star suffered an injury in the 2-0 defeat to Brentford on Monday evening.
Leeds’ hopes of automatic promotion took an almost fatal blow as goals from Neal Maupay and Sergi Canos left Leeds three points adrift of second-placed Sheffield United with only two games to play.
Alioski, 27, was replaced in the 12th minute of the defeat, after starting the match at left-back. Stuart Dallas came on, with many fans stating that the Northern Ireland international was one of the better players during the loss.
Ekuban, currently shining on loan at Turkish SuperLig side Trabzonspor, sent a message to Alioski following the defeat to wish the Macedonia international all the best in his recovery.
It is believed that Alioski suffered a ‘twisted knee’, as per Leeds Live. Images showed the versatile left footer with ice on his left leg from the bench.
Though he has come in for criticism this season, Alioski has been one of Bielsa’s first names on the team sheet throughout the 2018-19 campaign. He has started every single one of Leeds’ 44 league games.
Now, it appears that the former FC Lugano ace may miss the remaining two league games and that will be an enormous blow to Bielsa and Leeds, as they look to salvage any chance of achieving a place in the top two.
