Leeds United striker Caleb Ekuban has been discussing his future. The Ghanaian international has clearly no intention of returning to Elland Road next season. He told Fotomac just how much he is enjoying his time with loan club Trabzonspor.
“I feel really loved here. People show me respect, which is great. At this club, I have managed to get a call up to the national team, and I am playing for my country now.
“I couldn’t wish (for) any better. So, I am very happy that I will stay at Trabzonspor.”
His move to Turkey appears to be sewn up. His agent Graziano Battistini informed TuttoMercatoWeb last month that Trabzonspor ‘will buy him’ this summer. Taka Gazete has previously suggested that Leeds have agreed a £900,000 fee with the Turkish club.

Ekuban’s departure will be no surprise to Leeds United fans. An impressive season on loan at Partizani Tirana in Albania is what convinced Leeds into this move. Signed from Chievo, he never quite made the impact Leeds hoped he would.

He went through an awful drought at Leeds. After scoring on his debut against Port Vale in the League Cup, his next goal did not come until March. A metatarsal fracture and a series of missed clear-cut chances certainly wouldn’t have boosted his fragile confidence.
But he has clearly enjoyed his time in Turkey. Eight goals this season is not eye-catching. However, his effort up front has earned him the starting role in attack. It also saw him win a call-up for Ghana, for whom he scored on his debut.
Marcelo Bielsa clearly decided he was not up to scratch in the summer. But Ekuban has found a good home in Turkey and Leeds will hopefully use any money made on his sale wisely in the months to come.
