Arsenal have been strongly linked with a move for Douglas Luiz in January.
The Brazilian is said to be the Gunners’ top target heading into the winter transfer window, but this deal won’t be easy to do.
Indeed, Aston Villa won’t be keen to lose their star player halfway through a season, and Unai Emery won’t be keen to do his former club any favours.
However, the player himself may well be keen on a move.
Speaking on KS1TV, Steve Kay has been discussing this transfer link, and he says that he’s heard that Arsenal actually wanted Luiz in the summer, and the player himself wanted to come.

Luiz wanted Arsenal move in summer
Kay shared what he knows about the £60m man.
“There have been a few players. Douglas Luiz is one that we all know Mikel Arteta loves a lot. He’s someone we tried to get in the summer and by all accounts Luiz wanted to come, Aston Villa just wouldn’t let him go, Unai Emery is a big fan of Luiz and they love Luiz,” Kay said.
Has that changed?
Luiz was reportedly keen on a move to Arsenal in the summer, and it will be interesting to see whether his stance on this matter has changed in recent months.
Aston Villa have certainly cemented themselves as top four challengers in recent months, and Luiz has only grown in terms of importance to this side.
In the summer, Luiz reportedly wanted to join Arsenal, but we wouldn’t be surprised at all if Luiz has changed his stance now and ultimately has decided that he wants to see out the season at Villa and see just how far Unai Emery can take this exciting crop of players.
This is certainly a situation to keep an eye on.
