A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have given their thoughts on the reports claiming Spurs are eyeing Sampdoria attacker Mikkel Damsgaard with a view to a summer move.

The 20-year-old only joined the Serie A side last September, but has impressed to the point that that several clubs are said to be keeping tabs on his progress and pondering a move.

Damsgaard was bought by Sampdoria for around £5.8million, becoming Nordsjaelland’s third most profitable sale in the process, behind Mohammed Kudus and Emre Mor.

However, the Dane is now said to have tripled in value, with Gazzetta dello Sport claiming he’s now worth “nearly” £18million.

Damsgaard has made 17 appearances in all competitions this term, including 15 in Serie A, during which he’s scored twice and assisted three goals.

According to Tuttosport, Spurs have been interested in the attacker since last year, but so are Bayer Leverkusen, who have also been keeping tabs on him.

Damsgaard is a highly rated young player who has predominantly played as a left-winger this term, but is capable of playing anywhere across the front three as well as in central midfield.

Flemming Pedersen, his former boss at Nordsjaelland, is quoted by Tuttomercatoweb as saying he hadn’t seen a Danish player with so much potential “since the days of Michael Laudrup”.

He sounds like one for the future, and certainly appears to have plenty of potential – but what have Spurs fans made of the speculation?
