A number of Burton Albion fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the announcement that the club made on their official website that they have signed Jamie Murphy on loan from Rangers.

Murphy leaving Ibrox during the January transfer window looked fairly inevitable. The winger has endured a tough time with the Gers, particularly since signing a permanent deal.

A knee injury saw Murphy miss the large majority of Steven Gerrard’s first season in charge of Rangers. And he has struggled for game-time during the first-half of this term.

The 30-year-old has made just two first-team appearances, with the most recent run out coming in late October.

But he now has a chance to perhaps prove a point to the Light Blues. Burton have confirmed on their official website that they have signed the wide-man on loan for the rest of the season.

It is perhaps going to take something special for Murphy to really catch Gerrard’s eye. Greg Docherty was outstanding in League One last season, but has also barely featured during this campaign.

But it appears that plenty of Brewers fans believe that the former Brighton man could prove to be an inspired addition.

Many have taken to social media to express their excitement about his arrival. Nigel Clough’s men are currently eighth in the third tier.

But some are convinced that Murphy’s move could make a massive difference in their push for promotion.

Here is how some of the supporters reacted to the announcement…
