It looks as though Oliver Sarkic could be the next young star to follow the trend of leaving Leeds United this summer.
The talented Montenegro youth international featured on trial for Burton Albion over the weekend. The 22-year-old played just over 50 minutes as Burton defeated Chesterfield 5-2.
The Burton Albion manager Nigel Clough then spoke to the Derby Telegraph after the game of the potential to sign the talented attacker this summer.
“I’m not sure yet.
“He (Sarkic) has got a couple of offers from abroad, I think, so I’m just going to have a chat with him now.
“His representative put us on to him, so we’ll see what his situation is.”
It certainly seems like Sarkic has a chance to earn himself a deal with the Brewers this summer.
If he did so, he would be the latest in a long line of Victor Orta signed young players to have left Leeds.
Sarkic was signed by Leeds in September 2017, initially on loan. That deal was made permanent in January 2018. Considering his illustrious past, many felt Sarkic might have had a chance of becoming a first-teamer at Leeds. He joined the club from Benfica after spending time at Anderlecht earlier in his career.
However, he struggled to establish himself at Leeds and also suffered a knee injury in February 2018.
Last season he was loaned out to Spanish side Barakaldo. He struggled for minutes, scoring once in just 12 appearances for the Basque side.
Now it seems Leeds are willing to let Sarkic go, following the likes of Sam Dalby and Hugo Diaz out the Thorp Arch exit door this summer.
