A number of Burnley fans have taken to Twitter to slam Mikel Arteta after the Arsenal boss partially blamed the Turf Moor pitch for the Gunners’ struggles against Sean Dyche’s men in Sunday’s stalemate.

Arsenal are now unbeaten in their last six games. But they seemed to be fortunate to keep that run going after their trip to Burnley at the weekend.

The Clarets had some fantastic chances throughout the game. However, they were unable to take any of their opportunities.

Arsenal did have their own opportunities. But it was not the most impressive performance from the Gunners since Arteta took charge.

And Arteta seemed to suggest, in comments reported by Football London, that the Turf Moor pitch was partially responsible for their struggles.

“Well the conditions were difficult the grass was ‘this’ long. They didn’t put any water on it and that’s not a very helpful thing to play football,” he said, as reported by Football London.

Unsurprisingly, the comments have been slammed by a number of Burnley supporters on social media. Many have suggested that Arteta’s statement is laughable.

Some have insisted that Arteta is doing Burnley a disservice and not giving Dyche’s men the credit they deserve.

They have suggested that he is not willing to admit that Arsenal may have been fortunate to come away with a point.
