Bukayo Saka spotted playing in a different position during Arsenal training ahead of Leeds clash

Arsenal are in a good mood going into the game against Leeds United.

The Gunners produced arguably their worst performance against a big side in over two years when they faced Manchester United, but they still managed to get a win.

Since then, Arsenal have agreed terms to sign Eberechi Eze, hijacking Tottenham Hotspur’s move to land the Crystal Palace star.

Mikel Arteta’s men will go into the fixture against Leeds with full confidence, and Arsenal fans could see a surprise change during the game.

Bukayo Saka and Noni Madueke switched flanks during Arsenal training

Bukayo Saka is Arsenal’s most important player.

The England international has been incredible for the Gunners since he broke into the first team, and he is among the biggest reasons why they have been title challengers.

Saka has nailed down the right-wing spot for himself over the years, and that is unlikely to change irrespective of who comes in.

However, Arteta may have a plan to switch things in-game to make Arsenal a lot more unpredictable than they are.

The North Londoners held an open training session at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday, and the Evening Standard have shared some insights.

During a training game, Saka started on the right wing and Noni Madueke on the opposite side, but midway through the game, the two players swapped flanks.

The Arsenal number seven played the rest of the game on the left wing in training, which suggests that Arteta has thought about using him there to mix things up.

Bukayo Saka’s stats on the left at Arsenal

Saka is one of the best right-wingers on the planet, so it doesn’t make a lot of sense to change his role.

However, if a game is not going to plan, moving the Hale End graduate to the opposite flank could make a big difference, as the opposition will not expect it.

Saka is obviously far better on the right, but how do his numbers look on the left?

Eight direct goal contributions in 14 games as a left-winger is a very good record considering that it is not Saka’s natural position.

Trying him out on the opposite side in training is a smart move by Arteta, and we think it could become an option in a game at some point – it could even happen against Leeds United on Saturday.

It will be interesting to see how Saka will fare if Arteta deploys him there.
