Bukayo Saka reveals the chat with Emile Smith Rowe that inspired Arsenal win
Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe were stars of the show yesterday as Arsenal saw off Tottenham with relative ease at The Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners youngsters were electric from the word go and were both rewarded for their efforts with a goal apiece. Playing alongside Martin Odegaard and behind Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the young duo simply blew Tottenham away.
Smith Rowe took the headlines. He was named man of the match on Sky, while he also added an assist alongside his own finish.
But Saka has revealed he was delighted for his teammate, and explained how a hypothetical conversation had sparked the pair into life.
“Yesterday at breakfast we spoke about this, ‘Imagine how it would feel to score in a north London derby”, Saka told the club’s website.
“When Emile scored the first goal, I just looked at him and we remembered the conversation. When I scored, he looked at me again and it was just a very, very special feeling for both of us to do it in this stadium as well.”

The Gunners will enjoy some element of success as long as they keep hold the pair. Mikel Arteta needs to build his team around them, it’s that simple.
Saka and Smith Rowe were integral yesterday and delivered on the biggest stage when it mattered.
The Gunners want to return to challenging ASAP. They’ll only do that by ensuring this pair of youngsters thrive. Smith Rowe and Saka really are that good.
Indeed, they have the potential to be world-class players.
