Bukayo Saka has responded to David Beckham after the former England captain sent a message to the Arsenal star on Instagram as England reached the semi-final of Euro 2024.

Bukayo Saka was undoubtedly the star of the show from an England perspective in a hard-fought win against Switzerland on Saturday, with the Three Lions booking their ticket to the last four after winning on penalties.

Harry Kane labelled Saka’s performance ‘unbelievable’, particularly considering that he was playing in a different role as Gareth Southgate switched to a back three.

But of course, it felt significant that Saka was one of those to score from the penalty spot to help England book their spot against Netherlands for a place in the Euro 2024 final.

Saka was one of the players to receive disgusting racist abuse on social media after seeing his penalty saved during the Euro 2020 final three years ago.

So it is fantastic to see so many now using social media to praise the Arsenal man – with David Beckham amongst those to send a message to the 22-year-old on Instagram

What is often overlooked about Arsenal star’s journey to becoming key England player

It does seem remarkable how long Saka has been consistently outstanding for Arsenal, when you think that he does not even turn 23 until September. He has already made over 260 appearances for club and country across his career.

A lot is expected of him, and he so often delivers. But what is perhaps overlooked is how Saka proved to be a surprise package as Euro 2020 went on, with the Arsenal man not even featuring in the opening game against Croatia at Wembley.

He got his chance as England put one foot in the knockout stages, and did not look back from there, becoming a key component of the side.

It has been a long season for Arsenal’s players, with the toll of another Premier League title race surely taking a lot out of the side. And Saka is one of those who would probably love to put his feet up right now.

But he found the energy from somewhere on Saturday – reminding everyone what a special player he is.
