Bukayo Saka has lauded Takehiro Tomiyasu as a machine on Instagram in reaction to the Arsenal defender’s superb performance against Liverpool at the Emirates on Sunday.
Mikel Arteta sprung quite the surprise ahead of the clash. Oleksandr Zinchenko was sidelined with injury. But he still opted to leave Kieran Tierney on the bench.

Instead, Tomiyasu was handed his first league start of the campaign. And on paper, he could have hardly been handed a tougher gig, marking Mohamed Salah.
Saka lauds Tomiyasu in reaction to his performance
Arsenal were not flawless defensively. They needed to take the lead three times to secure the points and return to the top of the table.

However, there is absolutely no question that Arteta produced a masterstroke picking Tomiyasu on that side.
No Arsenal player won more tackles than the Japan international, according to Whoscored. He also managed six clearances for the Gunners.
It was a remarkable showing given that Tomiyasu has been more peripheral so far this season. And Saka has perhaps best summed it up on Instagram.
Tomiyasu posted his reaction to Arsenal’s victory on social media. And in response, Saka has lauded his performance…

It was a timely reminder from Tomiyasu of how good he can be.
He enjoyed a brilliant first season at the Emirates. However, injuries hurt him at various points. And that was also the reason why he had to bide his time at the start of this season.
In fairness, Ben White has been a revelation at right-back. But Tomiyasu showed what he will bring to the side when he gets his chance.
And Arsenal clearly have another brilliant option up their sleeve as they now, dare we say it, look to challenge for the title.
