Arsenal star Bukayo Saka and Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson had a bit of a competition going on behind the scenes in England’s training camp in Qatar this week.

The Three Lions have worked incredibly hard over the last few days to get themselves ready for the big game against France tonight. Saka is a guaranteed starter, while Wilson could well be needed off the bench to help England get over the line in the second half.

All the England players went through a training drill called squat jump this week. They just had to carry an empty barbell over their shoulder and jump as high as they could.

The data of each player’s attempt, unsurprisingly, was being recorded, and a TV screen showed the leaderboard.

Arsenal star Saka, despite not being the tallest or the strongest in the England squad, was on top with a 3.48 m/s score. Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold was second on the list, while Wilson ranked third.

After another round, however, the leaderboard displayed that Wilson was the new leader with a score of 3.8 m/s, beating Saka’s record by a decent margin.

The Arsenal man looked confident and tried his luck again, but his attempts, for whatever reason, weren’t being registered by the machine.

Wilson then had a go and the Newcastle star only managed 2.69 m/s this time. A shocked Saka just couldn’t believe his eyes and shouted: “You’ve cheated. Please get a VAR, you’ve actually cheated. Look at your score.”

Pointing at the iPad where his score was being displayed, Wilson defended himself by saying: “That’s my cooldown.” Saka, however, was having none of that.
