Bukayo Saka has now set a record only Robin van Persie can beat at Arsenal.

It was Harvey Downes – Football Data Editor for Opta – who shared the information.

So, what has Bukayo Saka done at Arsenal? Let’s take a look…

Bukayo Saka sets Arsenal record only beaten by Robin van Persie

Well, the Arsenal No.7 has been nominated for February’s Premier League Player of the Month award after an outstanding run.

Saka scored six goals in just four Premier League appearances throughout February to earn his nomination.

In doing so, the England international has become the highest scoring Arsenal player in a single calendar month – only behind Van Persie, who netted seven goals throughout October 2011.

Downes wrote on X (previously known as Twitter): “Bukayo Saka scored six Premier League goals in February 2024, the most by an Arsenal player in a single calendar month since Robin van Persie in October 2011 (seven).”

The Dutchman memorably netted a hat trick against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge back in October 2011 as Arsenal recorded a 5-3 win.

It was that treble which lifted Van Persie above Saka in regards to this particular record, as he was about to end the month with four goals following braces against Sunderland and Stoke.

Bukayo Saka is having a special campaign

In our view, people aren’t making enough out of Saka’s 2023/24 campaign so far.

The 22-year-old has remarkably scored 16 goals and provided 13 assists across all competitions, meaning he is just one goal involvement away from notching 30 after just 34 appearances.

Saka – who is one of Gary Lineker’s favourite players – could realistically finish the season with 20 goals and 20 assists to his name, something very few footballers have achieved in a top European league throughout history.

If the Hale End graduate maintains this incredible form, he could even round off 2023/24 by helping England win UEFA EURO 2024 this summer.
