Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has been described by former Spurs midfielder Tom Huddlestone as “built from tough stuff” with regards to his desire to play for England.
Kane has been cleared for selection as Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate prepares for Wednesday’s UEFA Nations League clash with Denmark.
This is despite the 27-year-old having taken part in a hectic start to the season at club level which left him nursing a slight knock.

Kane was a doubt for Sunday’s Nations League game against Belgium due to a muscle problem, but emerged as a 66th-minute substitute as England won 2-1 at Wembley.
Huddlestone thinks the £200,000-a-week ace – currently on 32 goals for England – is eyeing up Wayne Rooney’s record tally of 53 goals, and won’t want to miss out on international games.
“If you’re feeling a bit of fatigue, a bit of a slight injury, a lot of players that are my age would just get on with it,” the 33-year-old told Sky Sports, as transcribed by Goal.com.
“If you waited until you were 100 percent, you’d probably never get out there.
“Knowing Kane, he’ll be exactly the same. He’s built from tough stuff, almost old school in that approach. He’ll want to be playing.
“He’s started eight of 11 games and he’s probably disappointed he hasn’t started all 11, knowing him and how much he loves scoring goals.
“For him on a personal level, he’ll be looking at that Wayne Rooney England record and be thinking ‘I’ve missed two games there where I could have got two or three goals’ – especially when the penalty was given the other night.
“Every player bends the truth a little bit wanting to get out there and help the team as much as possible.”
Kane has already made 11 appearances for club and country this season, recording eight goals.
TBR View:
Kane’s determination and drive have helped him get to the top of his game, but pushing yourself all the time can have adverse effects, in the form of fatigue or injuries.
On the plus side, Tottenham have finally bolstered their striking ranks with the arrival of Carlos Vinicius, which will allow Kane a rest now and then, as well as ensuring Spurs can tick over if he’s injured.
