Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes has hailed Allan Saint-Maximin and revealed that the Frenchman was his ‘first mate’ at St James’ Park.
Guimaraes and Saint-Maximin are arguably two of Newcastle’s best players. The former, however, is the biggest fan favourite at the moment, and his performances have been truly sensational since he joined the club in January this year.

Bruno Guimaraes says Allan Saint-Maximin was his ‘first mate’ at Newcastle United
When Newcastle signed Guimaraes at the start of this year, the Brazilian barely spoke any English.
He had his countryman Joelinton at the club to help him out, but it was apparently Saint-Maximin who become his first friend on Tyneside.
Both Guimaraes and Saint-Maximin played in France before joining Newcastle. The Brazilian learned French during his time at Lyon, and he has now revealed that the language helped him become good pals with the 25-year-old attacker when he first joined the club.
When asked about Saint-Maximin, Guimaraes said in an interview on the Premier League’s YouTube channel: “Amazing player! I have his card on FIFA, I played with him, of course.
“The dribbling and the skills, he can do things that the other players can’t do. He’s an amazing player. I love to play with him, we play well together.
“We speak between us in French. He’s an amazing player. He was my first mate here, I love to play with him.”

TBR View:
Saint-Maximin really is a fantastic player, but he has had a tough time lately.
The tricky French winger has played just five times in the Premier League this season. He has played just 12 minutes of football since the end of August, which really is a shame.
The good thing for Newcastle, however, is that they’re doing exceptionally well without Saint-Maximin. They are currently fourth in the Premier League table and are threatening all the top teams in the country.
One can only imagine how good the Magpies will be once Saint-Maximin returns, especially if he begins to combine really well with the brilliant Guimaraes.
