Bruno Guimaraes messaged Raphinha after Newcastle help Leeds stay up
Bruno Guimaraes haș messaged Raphinha on Instagram after Newcastle United played their part in Leeds United staying in the Premier League on the final day of the season.
Leeds will remain at English football’s top table next year after a stunning last day of the campaign. The Whites, of course, knew that they needed to better the result Burnley got against the Magpies at Turf Moor.
Jesse Marsch’s men ultimately won against Brentford. Raphinha opened the scoring after winning a penalty himself in the second-half. And Jack Harrison was able to smash home a winner in stoppage-time to ensure that Leeds got the three points.
Their fate was out of their hands however. Burnley had the advantage due to their much better goal difference. And a win against Newcastle would have meant that Leeds’ result was irrelevant.
But the Magpies did their bit for Leeds. Two goals from Callum Wilson saw Eddie Howe’s side take a 2-0 lead against Burnley. And despite conceding one and coming under some late pressure, Newcastle were able to hold on.
One of the stars of the season for Newcastle has been Guimaraes. His arrival has proved to be one of the pivotal moments in their season. And the midfielder looks to be an absolutely outstanding addition.
Ad he has now sent a message to Raphinha in response to his Instagram post following Leeds’ win.
Raphinha was clearly emotional after inspiring Leeds to safety. And Guimaraes responded to his post with a message that translates as: ‘You’re welcome! Congratulations brother’…
