Manchester United need to have an almost perfect transfer window.

Indeed, Manchester United have just recorded their worst-ever Premier League finish, and they need to seriously improve heading into next season.

Manchester United reportedly have £100m to spend this summer, and they need to use it wisely.

Matheus Cunha is set to sign for United, while United have now missed out on Liam Delap as he’s set to join Chelsea instead.

Luckily, more reinforcments could be on the way, and according to Ben Jacobs, speaking on The Done Deal Show, United may look at signing Emi Martinez from Aston Villa.

Man United want Emi Martinez

Jacobs shared what he knows about Martinez.

Martinez was in tears after his final game at Villa Park, and he looks like he’ll be on the move this summer.

The £20m man could end up at Old Trafford according to Jacobs.

“Along with Atletico Madrid, I would keep a very close eye on Emi Martinez,” Jacobs said.

“To Manchester United you’re saying?” The host asked.

“Yeah, Emi Martinez, Manchester United and Atletico Madrid. With Atleti it depends on if Jan Oblak leaves. He’s the same age as Emi Martinez, and if he leaves they have two names in mind. Joan Garcia, who wants to become a number one, which is why it will be intriguing to see if Arsenal can pull that off, and even Villa, if Martinez leaves Villa could go to Garcia and say you’re number one,” Jacobs said.

“Keep an eye on Manchester United and Martinez, and they have also looked at Garcia themselves six months ago as a backup to Onana, now we’ll have to wait to see what happens with this merry-go-round of goalkeepers.”

Manchester United clearly need to reset the culture in the dressing room, but their business this summer is seemingly doing more harm than good.

Matheus Cunha’s attitude has been questioned at times, while Emi Martinez is the Premier League’s biggest wind-up merchant.

Martinez loves riling players up and getting in their heads, and he did exactly that with Bruno Fernandes a few years ago.

The Argentine goaded Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo back in 2021 after a penalty was given against Villa at Old Trafford.

Martinez really got in Fernandes’ head at this time, and ultimately, the midfielder would miss his penalty, blazing it over the crossbar.

To make matters worse, Martinez would later laugh about this incident in an interview with Ian Wright.

Of course, winding up an opponent is part and parcel of playing top-level football, but it’s not very sporting, and Fernandes clearly wasn’t happy with Martinez at this time.

Now, the pair could end up being teammates, and there are some bridges that potentially need to be rebuilt if this deal goes through.
