Jesse Lingard scored a sensational solo goal as he ran the length of the pitch to open the scoring for West Ham United during a 3-2 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday night – and Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes has reacted.

Lingard, 28, has been sensational since swapping Manchester United for David Moyes and West Ham on loan in January. Since that move, he has clocked up eight appearances for the East Londoners – scoring six goals and creating three more.

Picking up the ball deep inside his own half, Lingard broke forward at pace and with Michail Antonio taking the Wolves defence one way – Lingard went the other, before lofting the ball over an onrushing Rui Patricio. It strengthened his England claims.

The Hammers took a three-goal lead, thanks to efforts from Pablo Fornals and Jarrod Bowen – only for Wolves to peg them back thanks to Leander Dendoncker and Fabio Silva. But the Hammers held on, and Lingard posted on Instagram.

Lingard’s goal threat has not only been impressive. It was claimed on Sky Sports that Lingard had run further than any other player on the pitch, clocking up a toal of 12.7 kilometres – which is a sensational effort. Certainly, he is back to his best.

His long-term future remains up in the air, but the win pushes the Hammers back into the top four of the Premier League. Manchester United superstar Fernandes commented on Lingard’s Instagram, with a three-word verdict.
