There is no doubt that Marcelo Bielsa has a worldwide reach and his appointment at Leeds United has helped put the club back in a high profile worldwide.

Indeed, in Rosario, Bielsa’s hometown in Argentina, Leeds are now followed regularly especially by fans of his former club Newell’s Old Boys.

Now, it seems that the Leeds United boss is even a topic of discussion when it comes to politics.

It seems that the British ambassador to Argentina is a massive fan of the Leeds boss and explained as much in a recent interview with El Ciudadano

“I think it’s a fantastic story that Marcelo Bielsa has done there at Leeds United. Leeds United is one of the most important teams in England with great performances in the 70s and 80s and there is a great love for football there. But in recent times the team descended from the Premier League to the second division, was falling and falling, had financial problems.

“However, now with the arrival of Marcelo Bielsa there is hope and it is something fantastic when you see the people there who love football and love Marcelo Bielsa. They have made songs dedicated to him and his style.”

Mark King, an Arsenal fan, expressed his admiration for the Leeds boss as he discussed his work in Argentina.

It certainly seems the ambassador is a huge fan of the Leeds United boss. He even wants Leeds to get promoted as a consequence.

Leeds United clearly have a larger than life personality in charge of the first-team and he has transformed the fortunes of the club who are now promotion favourites in the Championship after narrowly missing out last season.

‘El Loco’ is such a big hit at Leeds, he is now being used in conversation by politicians in his Argentine homeland.

His impact is clearly being seen worldwide and Leeds United fans will hope that continues to be the case.
