Derby County boss Frank Lampard is reportedly trying to add another new recruit to his Rams squad after being linked with a swoop on Bristol City for left-back Joe Bryan.
According to well-respected sports journalist Pete O’Rourke, writing for HITC Sport, the East Midlands-based outfit have seen a £3 million bid rejected for Bryan and it now remains to be seen whether the club will return with an improved offer.
The 24-year-old has been subject of vast interest this summer and the Robins now look to face a real fight to keep hold of one of their best players ahead of their season starting on Saturday.
Bryan was an instrumental part of Bristol’s team that reached the semi-final of the Carabao Cup and challenged for the play-offs last season and to lose such a player this close to the season commencing would be a massive blow to Lee Johnson’s side.
It is no surprise that he has attracted interest, however, and given that the Robins’ star man is out of contract next summer, the club will clearly have some thinking to do in the coming weeks.
The Rams have now started the bidding war for Bryan and it would appear that they are in the market for a new full-back before the window closes as Lampard looks to finalise his squad.
This transfer story looks set to rumble on through towards deadline day and here at TBR Football we took a look at what some fans were saying in response to O’Rourke’s initial tweet…
