Rangers may face some sort of battle to keep Steven Gerrard at Ibrox this summer, with the Daily Express reporting that the Englishman is wanted by a Championship side.
The Express has suggested that Bristol City are interested in appointing Gerrard following Lee Johnson’s departure earlier in the month.
It has been suggested by the Express that Gerrard is the Robins’ top target, with Chris Hughton, Lee Bowyer and Ryan Lowe also under consideration.
The Express notes that it will not be easy to lure Gerrard away from Ibrox. And it appears that a number of Bristol City fans may not be too disappointed if that proves to be the case.
Gerrard looks to be building something at Rangers. While he is yet to win a trophy, he does appear to be closing the gap between the Gers and Celtic.
Rangers have also enjoyed some fantastic nights in the Europa League since Gerrard came in.
Nevertheless, it appears that Hughton is currently the man that a larger portion of the Ashton Gate faithful want as Johnson’s successor.
Some do want Gerrard and hope that they can pull off a stunning move. But it appears that more would be happy to see him stay at Rangers following the reports.
Here is how some of the Bristol City fans reacted to the links with the Gers boss…
Got to be Hughton or Jokanovic for me. Gerrard is managing in a poor league with the second best team in it. He’s proven nothing. Too early in his managerial career for me. We need to take that next step. That’s a proven manager, not chancing on an up and coming

Hughton for me, but think Gerrard would show that we haven’t gone for a cheap option for once aswell

Chris Houghton would want to see the job through.Wants the job which says a lot after turning 5 down.
Stephen Gerrard it would be a stepping stone if he was successful.
Chris has got be the right choice-done it-been there-got the T Shirt.

Fancy Gerrard but can’t see it.

Although not sure why but I’m warming to the idea of Gerrard comimg in. If it goes right it’ll boost this clubs image massively. Granted we’d be Steven Gerrards Bristol City but the attention we’d get would be ridiculous compared to anyone else in the frame.
Hughton still my #1
