Bristol City boss Lee Johnson highlights inconsistency of Leeds results

Leeds United travel to Bristol City on Saturday in the Championship and will be looking to strengthen their position inside the top two of the table.

The Whites are pushing for automatic promotion this campaign and have been around the top all season.

Meanwhile, Bristol City are sixth in the league with their own aspirations of promotion to the Premier League and their manager Lee Johnson has spoken ahead of his team’s clash.

Johnson has highlighted the inconsistency in Leeds’ results, as their last two games have consisted of a 4-0 win at home to West Brom and a 1-0 away defeat to QPR.

“The West Brom game on Sky [as Leeds won 4-0] was one of the best performances I’ve seen by a Championship side but the week before they got beat 1-0 by QPR,” Johnson said, as quoted by the Bristol Post.

“That goes to show that, yes, Leeds are a very good side but the Championship as a whole can throw up those surprises.”

TBR’s View:

Johnson is a highly-rated young English manager overachieving at Bristol City and he’s going to love the challenge of testing himself against a wise head like Marcelo Bielsa.

Leeds’ results have been a little unpredictable during 2019 and a spate of injuries along the way has not helped them.

The Yorkshire giants do need to build on the thumping win over West Brom and if they reach those levels again they should prove too much for anyone else in the division.

Bristol City are going to be a dangerous attacking side at Ashton Gate, but now is the time for Leeds to show their promotion credentials and beat a top-six rival.
