Scott Bain has urged Celtic to lure Oliver Burke back to Celtic from West Bromwich Albion this summer on his Instagram story, as he uploaded a picture of the duo.
Both Bain and Burke were celebrating on their holidays after finally earning some well-deserved rest. The duo were both representing Scotland over the last few days, as Steve Clarke’s side beat Cyrpus but lost to Belgium.
Burke, 22, scored his first Scotland goal against Cyprus to win the match 2-1. He has since come in for plenty of praise for the goal, and goalkeeper Bain joined in that applause on his Instagram.
The former Dundee goalkeeper urged his club to “bring him back” from West Brom on his Instagram story, despite Burke only managing four goals in 19 appearances for the Hoops.
Yes, Burke has ended the 2018-19 campaign on a high but it must be remembered that he struggled to get any kind of momentum going at Celtic and miss some guilt-edged chances.
Odsonne Edouard is twice the striker of Burke, and a fit, in-form Leigh Griffiths is probably better too. Burke, who cost West Brom £15million (Express & Star) to sign from RB Leipzig, is likely to cost Celtic another big fee if they want him permanently.
No, Burke has not earned a Celtic permanent move – especially at the price the Baggies would probably want. But another loan to Parkhead should be considered.
