Leeds United captain Liam Cooper helped Scotland defeat Israel on penalties after neither side could be separated for 120 minutes in their Euro 2020 playoff semi-final last night.
The Whites ace put in a solid display on the left side of a back three in what was ultimately a dour and nervy game, with chances few and far between.
Cooper kept his concentration and did his job well, playing it safe on most occasions, while at the other end, he nearly became the hero with a 120th-minute header that hit the woodwork.

Scott McTominay also had a great chance late on in the first half, nodding wide from six yards from Andy Robertson’s corner.
In the end, penalties were needed to settle the tie, and while Scotland netted all five, Eran Zahavi’s unsuccessful spot kick early on in the shootout proved the difference.
The result means Scotland are just 90 minutes away from potentially reaching the European championships next summer.
Here is what some Leeds fans said about Cooper’s display on the night:
Cooper could be involved in two more Scotland games this international break, the Nations League double header against Slovakia and Czech Republic.
The £14,000-a-week ace will then return to club duty ahead of Leeds’ Premier League meeting with Wolves at Elland Road on Monday 19 October.
