Ireland fans are raving about Tottenham Hotspur Matt Doherty after his performances during the international break.

Catching the eye

Ireland may not have picked up the results they were wanting and they could only manage a 1-1 draw with Serbia last night.

However, Tottenham’s Doherty continues to catch the eye for his country.

The right-back has been extremely solid in all of Stephen Kenny’s side’s games.

And Tottenham fans are sure to be heartened by the reviews of Doherty’s displays.

Third choice right-back?

With Emerson Royal now arriving at Tottenham, Doherty faces the prospect of being third choice under Nuno.

Japhet Tanganga has seemingly moved ahead of him in the pecking order, which could see his game time very limited.

Doherty has played just seven minutes in the Premier League so far this season, with the bulk of his game time coming in European competition.

If he is to get back into Tottenham’s plans, he will need to carry his form from the international break into the club season.

But whether he will be given the chance to show his quality in Tottenham’s starting line-up remains to be seen.
