‘Brilliant’: Rangers fans praise Andy Halliday for display v St Mirren

Andy Halliday completed 90 minutes in the win over St Mirren on Saturday – and some of the Rangers fans on Twitter hailed him for the quality of his performance.

The Light Blues completed a 2-0 victory in the league and left it wait to pick up the three points.

Daniel Candeias’ late 80th minute strike put the visitors in front, before in-form centre-forward Alfredo Morelos scored again in stoppage time.

The Gers are now third-placed in the league table and that result should ease some pressure on manager Steven Gerrard.

A selection of Rangers fans on social media decided to single out Halliday for praise after his display and he’s managed to turn it around at Ibrox.

The 27-year-old is a versatile ace that is a defensive midfielder by trade, but has slotted in nicely at left-back in recent weeks and his flexibility has seen him become an important first teamer under Gerrard.

He was sent out on loan last season and it looked like he didn’t have a future with the Scottish giants, but Gerrard has given him a reprieve.

Halliday has become a consistent performer in recent weeks and his no-nonsense approach is making him a fan favourite.
