‘Brilliant news’, ‘super’: Some Rangers fans react to update from Auchenhowie

A number of Glasgow Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to congratulate Ibrox youngster Chris McKee after he penned a new deal with the Light Blues.

The 18-year-old centre-forward has shone for Rangers’ B team this season with an impressive eight goals so far this term.

McKee, who made the move to Ibrox from Linfield in 2018, is also a Northern Ireland youth international, receiving his first call-up to the Under-21s this month.

On Wednesday, the Rangers Youth Academy Twitter account confirmed that the youngster has signed a new contract at Ibrox until the summer of 2022.

And the player himself also took to Twitter, writing: “Delighted to sign a new deal with Rangers, can’t wait to see what the future holds.”

Plenty of Bears took to social media to congratulate McKee and wish him well as he continues on his Rangers journey:

McKee decided to join Rangers ahead of interest from Nottingham Forest and Stevenage, according to Belfast Live.

Speaking to the same outlet last year, McKee made it clear that heading to Ibrox was always his first option.

“My heart was always set on Rangers,” he said. “I was over the moon when they came in for me.

“It was like a dream come true, but I realise I have to put in a lot of hard work if I want to succeed here.”
