'Brilliant news': Some Liverpool fans discuss announcement about £200,000-a-week man
Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react after finding out that Luis Enrique had left Thiago out of the Spain squad.
What’s the story?
Well, the ex-Barcelona manager’s tendency to leave Thiago out has reared its ugly head once again.
Now, he’s left the £200,000-a-week man out entirely for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Sweden, Georgia and Kosovo.
In our view, that’s baffling. Thiago is among the best midfielders in Europe, and would improve 99% of sides across the footballing world.
Nevertheless, it’s great news for Liverpool and Jürgen Klopp from a selfish point of view.
Thiago exclusion is great for Liverpool
Despite his lack of action at EURO 2020, Thiago’s involvement still meant he returned back to pre-season training late as Spain reached the latter stages.
It’s always tough to return late, as you end up playing catch up with your teammates and opponents in terms of fitness.
Thankfully, Enrique’s decision means Thiago can stay at the AXA Training Centre during the international break and work on his fitness.
Once domestic football returns, the 30-year-old should then be up to speed and ready to help Liverpool wrestle their Premier League title back.
Klopp has only given the Liverpool No.6 nine minutes of Premier League action this season, so the German clearly feels his midfielder needs a bit more time to get fit.
Let’s see what the Liverpool fans on Twitter have been saying about Thiago’s exclusion from the Spain squad…
It's understandable if he isn't 100%, but if not then it's disgraceful.— kazoorice (@wearewinnin) August 26, 2021
It's probably the former which will mean Keïta is starting v Chelsea. Biggest test for him, yet.
Brilliant news. Gives him 2 full weeks to recover and get into shape for the season https://t.co/HwjonP7NkD— – (@G1121C) August 26, 2021
