Tottenham Hotspur centre-half Juan Foyth put in arguably his best performance to date against West Ham United in the Carabao Cup.
The Argentine defender was selected to start, with the team having played just 48 hours prior at Wembley against Manchester City.
Foyth partnered Davinson Sanchez, while Toby Alderweireld was afforded a rest.
It was his first performance of the season, and he really did shine bright for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
Having joined the club last summer for £8 million (BBC Sport), it’s safe to say he hasn’t really made much of an impression for the north Londoners, until now.
Foyth future surely secured
Given his lack of game time since signing, some fans have previously expressed concerns over the player, and questioned why the club decided to buy him from Estudiantes.
Foyth certainly answered some of those questions on Wednesday with a colossal performance at the back.
The 20-year-old, who is yet to make his Premier League debut for the club, produced a number of key tackles in the game.
Foyth’s performance was beyond his tender years, and surely secures his near future.
There has been talk in the past whether he’d perhaps benefit from a loan move.
But surely now Pochettino will consider using him more as the games come thick and fast.
It was a highly impressive and authoritative display from a player with obvious potential.
