Ahead of the visit of Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, Mikel Arteta has one or two key decisions to make regarding his starting eleven for Arsenal.

With the addition of Riccardo Calafiori and the return to fitness of Jurrien Timber, Arteta has a lot more competition at the back.

In the long-run, it seems as if Calafiori will be preferred at left-back, able to provide defensive reassurance and attacking qualities when inverting into midfield.

William Saliba was excited by Calafiori’s debut, initially starting as a full-back and then moving inside centrally once Myles Lewis-Skelly was introduced.

Arteta is unlikely to start Calafiori against Wolves, it currently seems as if the Arsenal manager will lean upon Oleksandr Zinchenko in the early weeks of pre-season.

Zinchenko was excellent against Lyon, and looks well suited to starting a game at the Emirates that Arsenal expect to dominate.

TBR Football recently shared that Arsenal are willing to sell Zinchenko when sharing an update on Takehiro Tomiyasu’s future in north London, too.

Salah-Eddine Oulad M’Hand given Arsenal chance ahead of Wolves game

Following the news that Brooke Norton-Cuffy has left the club for Genoa, there are still a few Arsenal players caught in limbo between the Hale End sides and Arteta’s first team.

And alongside Charlie Patino, who is expected to leave the club this summer, 20-year-old Salah-Eddine Oulad M’Hand’s future seems uncertain.

Salah-Eddine, spent last season on loan at FC Den Bosch in the Dutch second tier.

Upon returning, Arsenal fans would be forgiven for not expecting too much from the Dutch youth international, even if he was previously compared to Dennis Bergkamp.

However, Salah-Eddine was handed a chance in Arsenal’s US pre-season tour and was ‘brilliant’ in his minutes.

And ahead of Wolves on Saturday, the youngster has been pictured continuing to train with Arsenal’s first team.

Salah-Eddine really does look capable of playing a squad role for the Gunners this season if he doesn’t depart in the next few weeks.

Although, Ethan Nwaneri does possess a similar positional profile and Arsenal won’t want to take any opportunities away from the 17-year-old.

But either way, it’ll certainly be interesting to see what Arsenal have planned for Salah-Eddine next, a player who reportedly has one-year left on his deal.
