Arsenal full-back Kieran Tierney has made Alan Shearer’s latest Premier League Team of the Week following his superb display on Saturday.

The Gunners ran out 4-0 winners over West Brom, a third consecutive league win for Mikel Arteta’s side following triumphs over Brighton and Chelsea.

Tierney opened the scoring in the 23rd minute with a superb solo run and curling finish, before the impressive Bukayo Saka netted a second just five minutes later.

Arsenal never looked back as they added two more in the second half, Alexandre Lacazette netting a brace – the latter set up by Tierney.

As well as his goal and assist, the Scotland international was consistently excellent going forward, offering an outlet on the left, and caused West Brom’s defence loads of problems.

Arsenal’s superb performance at The Hawthorns was rewarded with three players in Shearer’s XI, with Tierney named alongside Saka and Emile Smith Rowe.

“He provided everything you want from a modern full-back, scoring a brilliant goal and setting up another while also helping his team keep a clean sheet,” Shearer said of Tierney on the Premier League website.

Of Saka, he said: “A superb winger’s performance. He was whipping balls in for fun and got himself into the six-yard box to finish off a brilliant team goal.”

And of Smith Rowe, he added: “The 20-year-old provided energy, skill and composure, setting up Saka’s goal in the move of the match.”

Arsenal are now 11th in the table, just six points away from the top four, and up next for the Gunners is an FA Cup third-round tie at the Emirates on Saturday, against Newcastle.
