Brighton have taken the transfer window by storm this summer and they are now stepping up interest in another exciting target.
The Seagulls sit second in the Premier League table after an electric start to the season which included a last-gasp 2-1 win over Manchester United on Saturday.
Much has been made of Fabian Hurzeler’s role as Brighton manager with many doubting the 31-year-old’s ability because of his age.
But the German has made a superb start to life at the Amex Stadium and he is building a mightily impressive squad with Brighton spending just shy of £200million this summer.
Yankuba Minteh and Georginio Rutter arrived on big-money deals from Newcastle United and Leeds United respectively, while Brighton also signed Celtic’s Matt O’Riley for £25million this week.

Brighton now want Lionel Messi’s teammate
Nine new signings clearly isn’t enough for Hurzeler or Brighton because the south coast side are back in the market for another midfielder.
According to South American football expert Tim Vickery, Brighton are stepping up their interest in Paraguay international Diego Gomez.
West Ham made contact with Gomez’s agents earlier this summer but never followed up on their interest.
Vickery now claims that Brighton are close to signing the 21-year-old.
“A Paraguayan midfielder called Diego Gomez, who is currently playing with [Lionel] Messi in Miami in MLS,” Vickery replied on Sky Sports when asked who Brighton are targeting.
“Imperious young central midfielder. Tall, strong, works box to box, can play him further forward. He has a crashing shot on him.
“It looks like this one is well on the way, though there are doubts over whether it will happen now or in the January transfer window.”
Brighton’s impressive transfer strategy
It is hard to argue against Brighton being the best-run club in the Premier League. Their track record in the transfer market is superb and they have now developed a reputation as a club that is brilliant at developing young talents.
It has been slightly unusual to see Brighton spend so heavily this summer, but after raising huge fees for the likes of Moises Caicedo, Marc Cucurella and Alexis Mac Allister, they had plenty of cash to spend.
Gomez could well end up being another young star who arrives at Brighton and is an instant hit.
