Some Tottenham Hotspur fans may feel as if it should ring alarm bells if Brighton & Hove Albion are interested in your player.

The seaside club have recruited incredibly well over the last few years, unearthing several talents Spurs have been interested in.

As well as the signing of Yves Bissouma from Brighton, Tottenham are also thought to be one of several clubs keeping a close eye on the progress of Evan Ferguson.

Similarities between Ange Postecoglou and Roberto De Zerbi lends well to moves between the clubs, and explains why Liverpool are said to be interested in both managers.

All that aside, Brighton are now interested in signing a Tottenham player on the periphery of things.

And whilst the clever club showing interest should normally cause concern, it seems Spurs have made their mind up on Bryan Gil.

22-year-old Gil has had chances under Postecoglou but has failed to demonstrate that he can regularly affect games.

According to The Times, Brighton are now in talks to sign Gil who has only played 185 minutes in the Premier League this year.

The report doesn’t detail if a move will be permanent or on loan, but the former may seem a more apt solution.

Gil has already spent time with both Sevilla and Valencia on loan since joining the club, and it seems time for a proper fresh start.

Postecoglou has clearly been keen to offer his whole squad a clean slate this season, but Gil hasn’t shown the form which once made him look a ‘superstar’ in waiting.

All that being said, this move could also prove crucial in terms of players who could arrive at Spurs in the next few days.

A deal for Antonio Nusa could now be revived after a hitch in his Brentford move.

Moreover, there’s also reason to believe that the long-standing interest in Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher could result in a shock bid.

There’s clearly a ton to keep an eye on at Tottenham, and Brighton’s interest in Gil could result in a player arriving in North London.
