Brighton need to be careful that they don’t make the same mistakes as last season

The Seagulls came close to the Premier League last season as they pushed Middlesbrough and Burnley all the way. They went into the final day of the season with a chance of promotion, but they failed to get the job done. During the summer, the squad and the supporters will have been looking back at certain matches with a lot of regrets. Although they have once again put themselves into a strong position in the league, there will be concerns that they will be the ones to miss out on automatic promotion again. Chris Hughton’s men have lost to both Huddersfield and Newcastle in recent weeks, which will increase the worries that they are set to make the same mistakes as last time.

There is reason to be wary, but they have developed a lot since last season. They have become a lot more mentally strong and only Newcastle have won more matches in the league this season. The remaining fixtures for the Seagulls should fill the squad with confidence, as they only have one more match against a side in the current top six. Brighton should be able to clinch a top two finish and secure promotion if they continue to play like they have done. However, Tuesday night underlined the size of the task still ahead of them and there won’t be one supporter getting ahead of themselves, despite the team’s strong position.
