Newcastle United ran out 3-0 winners over 1860 Munich in Friday’s pre-season friendly in Austria.

Magpies boss Eddie Howe used two different XIs as his side eventually prevailed over 3. Liga side.

Newcastle struggled in the first half, failing to get on the scoresheet.

The Magpies then took the lead on 55 minutes, with Howe having made just one change.

Jacob Murphy played Jonjo Shelvey in, who in turn pulled the ball back for Joe Willock to fire home.

Then, just after the hour mark, Howe substituted the remaining 10 players who had started the match.

Newcastle doubled their lead on 63 minutes, Sean Longstaff rifling home a rocket of a shot from a tight angle.

And in the 76th minute, Bruno Guimaraes – who assisted Longstaff for his goal – added a third.

While Bruno was Newcastle’s top performer, quite a few players did well.

Howe will no doubt have been pleased with Elliot Anderson’s display as several media outlets lauded his efforts.

“A decent audition in front of Eddie Howe”

Newcastle World gave Anderson 8 out of 10.

“Newcastle’s brightest spark in the first-half,” they wrote.

“Always wanted the ball, found space centrally and in the wide areas.”

Meanwhile, Chronicle Live went with 7 out of 10 for the teenager.

“Lively enough and has linked up well with Saint-Maximin,” wrote Lee Ryder.

“A decent audition in front of Eddie Howe.”

Likewise, the Shields Gazette gave Anderson 7 out of 10.

They wrote: “Seemed keen to impress as he showed some classy touches and good movement, even if it didn’t always come off.

“Great work to set up Wilson early in the second half but the striker unfortunately couldn’t convert.
