‘Brick wall’… Declan Rice and Edu Gaspar absolutely loved £25m Arsenal player’s display vs Newcastle

Both Declan Rice and Edu Gaspar have now been praising a brilliant individual performance for Arsenal against Newcastle United yesterday.

Mikel Arteta will have surely been delighted with the way his side reacted at the Emirates, allaying any fears that the Porto defeat would linger.

Arsenal started incredibly fast, and perhaps delivered their best first half performance of the season.

Martin Odegaard was conducting Arsenal’s press incredibly impressively, demonstrating an underrated side of his game.

Jorginho, the elder statesman of the side, was also fantastic in the middle, displaying the full range of his brilliant passing.

The Italian recycled possession when necessary, but was often looking for the killer ball too.

However, perhaps the most understated influence came from Arsenal’s back four.

Set-piece prowess was again crucial for Arsenal, and Gabriel Magalhaes was unfortunate not to open the scoring himself with a thumping header.

Gabriel proved a nuisance for Newcastle all game long from set-pieces, and was celebrated by his Arsenal teammates on Instagram yesterday.

Gabriel celebrated the win by uploading a picture from the Emirates on Instagram with the caption: “Great atmosphere today at home, we keep pushing!! Thank you God!!”

And as you’d expect, the £25m-defender’s Arsenal teammates, and even his sporting director were delighted.

Declan Rice replied to the post saying ‘BRICK WALL’ and Edu Gaspar simply left a collection of congratulatory emojis.

In truth, you could deliver similar praise to almost every Arsenal performer against Newcastle yesterday.

Ben White once again inverted seamlessly into midfield and attacked very well, whereas Jakub Kiwior also contributed well on the left.

Besides a rare blip against Porto on Wednesday, The Gunners are flying right now, and they’ll surely be looking forward to making amends in the second leg.

Kai Havertz is now making a great case to be Arsenal’s first choice number nine moving forwards, proving the positive tactical headaches Arteta now has.

All that being said, Havertz was left praising one ‘world class’ performance yesterday.
