Sunderland splashed the cash on deadline day to secure the signature of Will Grigg. As reported by Sky Sports, the Northern Irishman cost Sunderland a League One record £4 million.
His previous form with the likes of Walsall, MK Dons and Wigan Athletic at this level suggests Sunderland have brought in a perfect man to fire them to promotion.

However, he suffered a poor home debut yesterday and Sunderland fans must remain patient with the player. Because he can be prone to bad starts. Just ask fans of the last team in red-and-white stripes he played for.
“I just want to play.
“I’m over the injury. I’m still working on fitness and stuff but it’s just a case of getting a bit of confidence up.
“You can’t be playing well all the time and it’s not like I’ve become a bad player overnight. I’m just going through one of those dips in form.”
In 2013, as reported by the BBC, Brentford paid £325,000 at a tribunal to sign Grigg from Walsall.
Playing for the League One promotion hunters did not come easy for him. He struggled under Uwe Rosler. He scored twice in his second game for the club but then went on a three-month barren streak. In the end, Grigg managed just five goals in 36 games that season and was on his way to MK Dons in the summer.
Grigg is a potent goalscorer at this level if given the confidence and belief to thrive. Sunderland must remember that to avoid another disaster in red-and-white for the club’s new star frontman.
