Brentford take on Leeds United this evening in the Championship in a game where Pontus Jansson is likely to be the main attraction. The Swede will return to Elland Road for the first time as an opposing player, following his move to Griffin Park over the summer.
But another of Brentford’s defenders has been discussing the game with Leeds tonight and it is clear he is relishing the chance of facing the Whites.
Julian Jeanvier has spoken to the Wandsworth Times where he admitted the game will be ‘tough’ against the Championship’s ‘biggest’ team. However, he feels that the Bees are even better than last season when they took four points off of Leeds United.
“They’re the biggest and one of the best teams in the league…
“This season we are more solid than last season.
“I think we have done well so far this season, we won away in a tough game at Middlesbrough, but we played well and were solid and that’s good for the future.”
Jeanvier is likely to partner Jansson at the heart of the Brentford defence tonight and Leeds fans will be hoping their attacking prowess can get the best of the Guinea international.
However, Brentford did prove tough opposition for Leeds last season. In fact, were it not for a late Jansson header, Leeds would have lost both games against the West London side in 2018-19.
Leeds fans will, therefore, hope that Jeanvier’s assessment is not accurate, as the club chase their first win at Elland Road this season.
