Liverpool are reportedly interested in a potential deal for Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara, according to reports in Germany.

Sport Bild is reporting that the Spanish midfielder may not sign a new contract at the club and is considering a summer exit with his current deal expiring next summer.

Liverpool are said to be keen on the player, in what would be an incredibly eye-catching acquisition.

Jurgen Klopp is said to be a massive fan of the player, calling him ‘world-class’ last year, and so was his predecessor at Anfield.

Brendan Rodgers has previously admitted that he wanted to sign Thiago for Liverpool.

As reported by the Liverpool ECHO, Rodgers previously admitted he wanted to bring the player to the club from Barcelona in 2013, but the midfielder wanted to join Bayern.

“I used to often come to see the lower categories of Barca, Nolito was in youth, Soriano in the reserves with Thiago.

“I tried to sign Thiago for Liverpool, but could not because he wanted to sign for Bayern.”

That summer saw Liverpool sign Luis Alberto as a different exciting Spanish prospect. That failed to be a success for Liverpool, although the Anfield reject is now in fine form for Serie A side Lazio.

Now, it appears that Klopp is hopeful of doing what Rodgers could not and potentially bring the midfielder to Anfield.
