Everton midfielder James McCarthy has admitted he does not yet know what his long-term future holds. Speaking to the Off The Ball podcast, he made it clear he would discuss his future in the summer before making a decision.

“I’m not sure (about my future).

“We’ll sit there in the summer and see what happens.”

The talented Irishman has been unfortunate with injuries in recent times and has struggled to win back a place in the Everton first-team since.

So should his unsure future spark Leicester City into life?

Brendan Rodgers is believed to be a big fan of the player. In fact, when Celtic manager, the Scottish side were often linked with his signature.

In August 2016 Leicester boss Rodgers reportedly wanted McCarthy in Glasgow, according to the Daily Record. As recently as January, transfer guru Jim White told talkSPORT (16/01/2019) that Rodgers wanted him at Parkhead yet again.

Rodgers will no doubt want to bring in some of his own players to Leicester City for next season and McCarthy clearly is a player he likes the look of.

With his future unclear, he could easily be an affordable option to add depth to the middle of the park for Leicester City. When fit, he was one of Everton’s more consistent and respected players.

Rodgers could get him back to that level at the King Power Stadium.
