Brendan Rodgers has told his press conference – as per the Leicester Mercury – that he has no interest in leaving Leicester for Newcastle.
Rodgers, 48, has been strongly linked with the Newcastle job following last week’s £305million takeover. Steve Bruce remains in charge for Sunday.
A Mail report states that Rodgers would reject an approach from Newcastle because he is holding out for a chance to manage Manchester City.
Pep Guardiola has a contract at City until the summer of 2023, and many expect he will leave then. Rodgers has admirers at The Etihad, say the Mail.
But any chances of joining Newcastle has been completely quashed. Asked in his press conference, he stated he is 100% remaining at the King Power.
“100 per cent,” Rodgers said. “I’ve got a contract until 2025. I absolutely love being here. I’m very fortunate. I want to be here.
“I’ve seen the reports around it. It doesn’t help anyone, particularly Steve and Newcastle. It’s the type of week I don’t like in the modern game.”

Rodgers on Newcastle job: Leicester gaffer right to ignore move
Ultimately, even if Newcastle spend in January, they are in danger of relegation this season. They need to turn things around, and quickly.
Perhaps, when Newcastle have invested for a couple of years and are challenging for the top half of the table, or even the top six.
That is when Rodgers could become more involved – a potential option. But for now, he is looking to help Leicester finish in the top four.
He has come so close in the past couple of seasons, within a whisker. £192k-a-week (TalkSPORT) Rodgers is right to ignore Newcastle, at least for now.
