Brendan Rodgers has heaped praise on Leeds United after Sunday’s draw against Leicester City – stating it was a performance more like last term.
Leeds are yet to hit the heights of last term, a season in which Leeds finished in a lofty ninth. Some would point to a second-season bounce.
Others, would suggest the number of injuries Leeds have sustained has contributed to some difficult form. But they are unbeaten in three games.
Draws against Leicester and Wolves have come either side of the 2-1 win over Norwich City. As a result, Leeds have climbed into 15th place.
Sunday’s performance was much more like the swashbuckling, persistent, attacking Leeds many have come to expect. Rodgers gave his verdict.

“That was more the team we have seen, That running capacity. The crowd really pushed the team, helped them,” Rodgers said, as per Leeds Live.
“Felt like an old-school British game, It was so good. Winning their last game was important. Whole week to prepare. Come out and flying.”
Rodgers on Leeds: Is Leicester performance a turning point?
It was better. Some players are still not at their best, Jack Harrison for example, but as a team – it was much better from a Leeds perspective.
But Leeds do still miss that player that can score a goal – with Patrick Bamford injured. Luke Ayling and Junior Firpo are missing, too.
Robin Koch, Jamie Shackleton and Joe Gelhardt were also missing from Sunday’s clash. A good point, a solid display, and Leeds are improving.
The only downside to it, is that the performance has come on the eve of an international break – somewhat halting momentum.
